New mattress manufacturers have been touting the latest products to lure shoppers away from the mattress manufacturers’ old offerings.
However, some consumers are also turning to the cheap alternatives.
According to a survey conducted by Consumer Reports, nearly half of American consumers said they would pay more for a mattress than a comparable mattress from a mattress manufacturer.
However if you look closely, most of the mattresses are not as good as the original brand name, and some are cheaper than the competition.
Some mattresses from the same manufacturer are being sold on Amazon for a fraction of the price.
According the survey, a typical mattress with a $50 price tag would cost $30 to $50, and the mattress that is $100 or less is likely priced between $50 and $100.
Consumer Reports surveyed about 600 consumers in a variety of categories.
The survey found that almost half of Americans were comfortable with the price of a $100 mattress.
However more than one in five said they were “not comfortable” with the mattress’s price, while just under half were comfortable buying a mattress that was $100 to $300 cheaper.
Accordingly, more than three in four consumers surveyed said they do not want to buy a mattress at all from a company that has a “very good” mattress price.
Consumers also felt that mattresses costing $200 or more would not be good for them.
