Walmart announced Wednesday it will open a new outdoor store in Miami-Dade County.
The company said it will start selling the store in a warehouse and on the first floor of the Miami- Dade Convention Center in January.
It will be the largest outdoor store to open in the United States.
The chain said the warehouse will house inventory and support more than 500 employees and about 15,000 customers.
Walmart’s decision to open its own outdoor store comes amid growing concerns about air quality, including in its largest city, San Francisco, where an outbreak of coronavirus has killed more than 4,300 people.
The company said Wednesday that it is now working to provide more air quality monitoring and that it will continue to monitor air quality in the future.
