It’s not the first time a hockey player has broken his leg while playing the sport, but this was a unique injury for the 18-year-old, who plays for the Edmonton Oilers.
The injury happened during a game at the Bell Centre on Sunday, March 17.
The Edmonton Oilers won 3-2.

When the Oilers scored, the young man was hit with a slap shot.
He was taken to hospital and is currently being treated for a broken ankle.
